Drillinder coat themselves in a cylinder of thick mud as they wait for evolution. They normally sit quietly but will roll out of hiding after it rains to add more mud to their cylinders.
A Drillinder's spinning stinger bores holes in the earth that it can hide in while it grows. If the earth is soft and wet enough they will use it for their mud cylinders and simply seal themselves right into the hole.
