Before Gastrel learn to fly they are confined to their nests, where they are vulnerable to predators. They defend themselves by spitting a nasty fluid right into their attackers' eyes.
Gastrel sit in their clifftop nests and watch their parents patrol the skies for food. They see how their parents bully others into giving up caught fish and then emulate them by picking on their own siblings.
